NOTICE OF MEETING

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

DATE:             Thursday, January 17, 2008

TIME:              4:30 PM

PLACE:           Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

1.  ELECTION OF PRESIDING OFFICER                                      ACTION

(Possible action to nominate and elect an officer to preside over the current meeting)

2.  PUBLIC COMMENT

(This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

3.  ELECTION OF COMMISSION OFFICERS FOR 2008              ACTION

(Presentation, discussion and possible action to nominate and/or elect Public Library Commission officers for 2008.)

4.  BOND PROGRAM MANAGER’S REPORT                               DISCUSSION

(This is a discussion item to allow the Branch Library Bond Program Manager to report on recent bond program related activities and make announcements.)

This report will consist of an informational presentation: none; regular reports: program budget, schedule, and construction reports; active projects; and community outreach; and special reports: none.

5.  CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT by Luis Herrera                           DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements.)  The City Librarian will give updates on the following topics: the Fuhrman Fund; the International Center; America’s most literate cities rankings; and highlights on exhibitions and programs.

6.  FISCAL YEAR 2008/09 LIBRARY BUDGET                               DISCUSSION

(Presentation and discussion of the proposed FY 08/09 Budget)

7.  LABOR UNION REPORT                                                                       DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow representatives of labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

8.  NEW BUSINESS                                                                          DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)

9.  ADJOURNMENT (requires motion & public comment)               ACTION
