NOTICE OF MEETING

 

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

 

 

DATE:            Thursday, April 20, 2006     

TIME:             4:00 p.m.                               

PLACE:              Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

 

The meeting will be called to order.

 

 1.        PUBLIC COMMENT                       

(This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

 

2.            TRIBUTE TO THE DEPUTY CITY LIBRARIAN                ACTION

Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve a resolution commending  and thanking Deputy City Librarian Paul Underwood for his dedication, hard work, and principled leadership  during his service as Deputy City Librarian and Acting San Francisco City Librarian.

3.         APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES                                                      ACTION

Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of March 16, 2006.

4.         BOND PROGRAM MANAGER’S REPORT                       DISCUSSION

(This is a discussion item to allow the Branch Library Bond Program Manager to report on recent bond program related activities and make announcements.)

This report will consist of an informational presentation: none; regular reports: program budget, schedule, and construction reports; active projects; and community outreach; and special reports: none

5.         RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 81       ACTION

Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve a resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution in support of the voters’ enactment of Proposition 81, the State Library Construction Bond Act of 2006.

6.         10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE                 DISCUSSION

                MAIN LIBRARY

Presentation and discussion of the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Main Library.

 

7.                  CLOSED SESSION ON EXISTING LITIGATION ACTION

: City and County of San Francisco v.  James Chaffee, San Francisco Superior                  Court Case No. 645-130     

A.  Public comment on all matters pertaining to the closed session.       

                                                                            

B.   Vote on whether to hold closed session to confer with legal counsel regarding               pending litigation, (SF Administrative Code §67.10(d) (1))                                                         

C.   Conference with legal counsel in closed session.  (CA Gov’t. Code §§ 54956.9(a);         SF Administrative Code § 67.10(d) (1).)          

                                                                           

D.  Reconvene in open session:                                             

      1.   Report on action taken in closed session, if any, and the vote thereon 

                (CA Government Code §54957.1(a); SF Administrative Code §67.12(b)

                 (2).)  

          

2.      Vote to elect whether to disclose any portion of the discussions held in closed session that is not confidential and possible report thereon.
