A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

The meeting will be called to order.

 

Note:  The Commission will hear public comment on each item on the agenda before or during consideration of that item.

 

1.  General Public Comment

(This item is to allow members of the public to address the Commission on matters that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission and that do not appear on the agenda). 

 

2.  Chinatown Branch Library Renaming                                      Discussion

(Discussion on possible renaming of the Chinatown Branch Library in honor of Him Mark Lai including a brief overview of the branch history and staff introductions.)

Explanatory Document: Library Facilities Naming Policy – Policy #601; and Chinatown Renaming Survey. 

 

3.  Branch Library Improvement Program Schedule Changes

                                                                                                 Discussion/Action

(Discussion and possible action to approve changes to the forecast project schedules for the following Branch Library Improvement Program (BLIP) projects:

Merced, Park, Parkside, and Presidio branches.)

4.  Bond Program Manager’s Report                                             Discussion

(This is a discussion item to allow the Branch Library Bond Program Manager to report on recent bond program related activities and make announcements.)

This report will consist of informational presentations: none; regular reports: program budget, schedule, and construction reports; active projects; and community outreach; and special reports none.

Explanatory documents: Current Budget Report; Library Commission Schedule Report; Historic Preservation Commission report and draft resolution on possible landmarking of the North Beach Branch Library.

 

5. City Librarian’s Report by Luis Herrera                                       Discussion

(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements).  The City Librarian will give updates on the following topics:  2010/2011 Budget; Chinatown Branch Stairway Renovation; American Library Association (ALA) and Urban Libraries Council (ULC) recognition awards; 2010 Blue and Green Award; and Public Education Enrichment Fund (PEEF).

 

6.  Approval of the Minutes June 3, 2010                                       Action

(Presentation, discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 3, 2010)
