Black Is Me:

African American Female Poets Speaks
Event detail

In celebration of April as National Poetry Month, the African American Center presents writer Michelle Fleming-Bendo and her  poetic works.  Fleming-Bendo takes her words and artistically visually represents them.   Along with the art work of Fleming-Bendo will be the poetry of other African American, poets.  Going along with the 2012 National Black History Theme, Black Women in American Culture and History all the writers in the exhibit are female poets whose words have moved and spoken truths to readers.

This theme is a guide to be used all year long, by those celebrating African American history.

Throughout the month of April the San Francisco Public Library celebrates National Poetry Month with many exciting programs that emphasize the importance of poetry in American culture.
