Wherever There's a Fight
A History of Civil Liberties in California
Civil liberties, our right to equality under the law and our right to freedom from government intrusion, are essential to democracy. This exhibit tells the stories of people throughout California history who fought violations of their civil liberties and confronted the prejudices and political winds of the times. Their stories remind us that each generation has its own fights to keep our rights meaningful.
