These free workshops for middle and high school students will help them prepare their poems to be entered into competition for the ‘We Are All Poets’ event and reading, to be held at the library in October.
On September 21, aspiring young poets are invited to attend the middle school workshop from 1 - 2:30 pm, or the high school workshop from 3 - 4:30 pm, in the Main Library Children's Center. These workshops, led by experienced teacher-poets, will help students find creative ideas and polish and edit their work.
Participation in a workshop is not required to enter a poem into the competition, but it is strongly encouraged.
Selected youth poets from all 11 electoral districts will be invited to read their work in the "We Are All Poets" event attended by city officials on Oct. 26 in the Main Library's Koret Auditorium.
