Pioneer lesbian playwright Terry Baum will share her experience researching and writing her new solo play, Hick: A Love Story. Lorena Hickok was the most famous woman journalist of their day. She was the first woman to have a byline on the front page of the New York Times. She and Eleanor Roosevelt met and fell in love in 1932. Their love affair last a few years. They remained friends until Roosevelt died. This relationship is documented by 2336 letters written by Eleanor Roosevelt. Baum traveled the country researching archives and interviewing friends and acquaintances of Hick.

Terry Baum has written 15 plays, including Dos Lesbos; A Play By, For, & About Perverts. Her work addresses gay rights, immigrant rights, feminism, anti-semitism, medical-ethical dilemmas, and the pursuit of true love.

HICK: A LOVE STORY opens July 10 at the Eureka Theater.
