Jimmy Stewart stars as Scottie Ferguson, a retired detective hired to tail a friend's suicidal wife. After he rescues her from a leap into the bay, he finds himself obsessed with the beautiful, haunted Madeleine (Kim Novak). Gorgeous San Francisco locations and hypnotic music by Hitchcock’s favorite composer, Bernard Herrmann, helped the originally unsuccessful Vertigo to be named the best film of all time in the 2012 Sight and Sound Critics poll, a title held since 1952 by Citizen Kane.
