RV-019 Mary Bennett
My personal interest in the project started out of rage and has now been replaced by enthusiasm, respect and love. I was incensed that someone could and would do such a thing, but even more concerned that this was the wave of the future. When times are hard, ideas are always the first things attacked. Harry Potter books being burned, women’s issue books being sold under brown paper wraps, gay and lesbian books being cut, torn and defaced, ideas and information that may be different or threatening are all suspect. However, the world-wide outpouring of enthusiasm for this project has been simply too strong and too numerically overwhelming to be believed. It proves that ideas do live on, even though vehicle to deliver them may not be there. Regardless of the delivery system, the time and thought and expense and creativity that go into converting damage into something positive is a testament to humankind.
