Title: Susie Makes Art Susie Makes Art is a transformed book. Like the original author, Susie Bright, I allowed myself to re-invent, invert, and transpose the body: in this case, a text that presented itself as a slashed, and therefore unloved, object. Above all, I wanted to return the book to the Library with the ugly energy of hatred replaced by delight, humor and play. To do that, I used chance techniques to pair words on the page with phrases and images that I had already cut and saved from many different sources: advertisements, catalogues, invitations, books, magazine, etc. I let the relationships unfold, and tried as much as possible to stay out of the way. My goal was to let the body of the text heal itself. Thank you Susie Bright. Thank you San Francisco Public Library. Thank you reader. May this book make you smile.
