Library Commission

 A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

The meeting will be called to order.

   1. APPROVAL OF THE DECEMBER 5, 2000 MINUTES - ACTION

      Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular

      Commission meeting of December 5, 2000.

   2. APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 16, 2000 MINUTES - ACTION

      Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the special

      Commission meeting of November 16, 2000.

   3. NOMINATION OF COMMISSION 2001 OFFICERS - ACTION

      (This item is to allow Commissioners to nominate themselves or fellow commissioners for the offices of President or Vice President for 2001.)


   4.  CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT - DISCUSSION
      by Acting City Librarian Susan Hildreth

      (This a discussion item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)


   5. CITY LIBRARIAN SEARCH COMMITTEE REPORT - DISCUSSION

      Presentation of, and discussion of a report by the City Librarian Search Committee on its activities.


   6. FRIENDS AND FOUNDATION MOU - ACTION

      Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve and recommend to the Board of Supervisors for approval, a proposed revised Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library and the Library and to direct the City Attorney to draft an ordinance for Board of Supervisors approval that is consistent with the terms of the revised MOU.

      Foundation, and a summary of key changes in the 11/30/00 revision.


   7. LIBRARY BUDGET - ACTION

      Presentation on, and discussion of, and possible action to approve a FY 2001-2002

      Library Budget; including a report on budget processes, administrative

      procedures, and finance issues by Library Finance Director George Nichols.

   8. MAIN LIBRARY POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION (POE) REPORT -  DISCUSSION

      Presentation and discussion of staff response to all recommendations made in the POE.

      Explanatory document: a report on response to Main Library POE recommendations.


   9. SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION REQUEST - ACTION

      Presentation of, discussion of and possible action to approve a request for Supplemental Appropriation to fund some Main Library improvements Identified in the Post Occupancy Evaluation Report.

      Explanatory Document: draft Supplemental Appropriation Request.


  10. FRIENDS AND FOUNDATION REPORT - DISCUSSION

      (This item is to allow the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  11. UNION REPORT - DISCUSSION

      (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)


  12. NEW BUSINESS - DISCUSSION

      (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for future consideration.)


  13. DISCUSSION - PUBLIC COMMENT

      (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)


  14. ADJOURNMENT - ACTION

      (requires motion and public comment)
