A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows: Date: Thursday, April 1, 2004
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level The meeting will be called to order. 1. PUBLIC COMMENT (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - ACTION Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of March 4, 2004. Explanatory documents: Minutes 3. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT - DISCUSSION by City Librarian Susan Hildreth (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements) The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: a Prop. 14 update; filming in the San Francisco History Center; and exhibits and programs. 4. RFID RECOMMENDATION - ACTION Presentation on and discussion of use of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system in the Library in order to reduce workplace injuries and enhance Library operations, and possible action to approve acquisition of RFID-based technology to replace existing barcode based circulation and magnetic security systems, subject to adoption of suitable criteria and policies to protect user privacy Explanitory documents: Privacy Policy; Implementation Plan; Request for Proposals; CA Factsheet on EMF (PDF 46K); RFID & Health Bibliography; Fast Facts 5. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT - DICUSSION (This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.) 7. LABOR UNION REPORT (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) 8. NEW BUSINESS (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.) 9.
