The book that I received was formatted in such a way that there were many blank spaces separating the pieces of text. I understand these spaces to be silences—silences which are inherent to this particular book and which now accompany this book due to its circumstances. I removed these “silences” from the book and joined them together in a wax casting. The casting is the actual shape of the lost book. This piece is a small monument to absence and loss.
