A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows: Date: Thursday, December 4, 2003
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level The meeting will be called to order. 1. BOND PROGRAM MANAGER’S REPORT - DISCUSSION Continued from November 20, 2003 (This is a discussion item to allow for public comment on and Commission discussion of the Branch Library Bond Program Manager’s report presented at the November 20, 2003 regular meeting) 2. PUBLIC COMMENT (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) 3. RICHMOND BRANCH LIBRARY NAMING - ACTION Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve the addition of the name of the late State Senator Milton Marks to the name of the Richmond Branch Library. Explanatory documents: Richmond Branch renaming memo - Report on October 25th Richmond District Community meeting - Board of Supervisors Resolution in support of renaming 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - ACTION Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of October 16, 2003. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - ACTION Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of November 4, 2003. Explanatory document: draft Minutes 6. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT - DICUSSION by City Librarian Susan Hildreth (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements) The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: a California Library Association (CLA) Conference report; concerning the Excelsior Branch closure; a 2003/04 circulation statistics report; an Ocean View public art update; a budget update, Proposition 14 (State Library Bond Act) applications revisions; and Exhibits and programs. 7. BAYVIEW TOWN CENTER MOU - ACTION Presentation and discussion of and possible action to authorize the City Librarian to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the San Francisco Public Library and the Bayview Town Center. MAIN LIBRARY (POE) REPORT - DISCUSSION Presentation and discussion of an update report on the Main Library Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) Report related Main Library projects. 9. LIBRARY HISTORY PLAQUES - ACTION Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve a series of plaques chronicling the history of the San Francisco Public Library from its beginnings until the present and honoring those who made significant contributions to be located in the Larkin Street entrance of the Main Library. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT - DISCUSSION (This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.) 11. LABOR UNION REPORT (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) 12. NEW BUSINESS (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.) 13.
