I am a collage and altered book artist. I literally jumped at the chance to “save” a book! I am proud to be included in such a unique project as Reversing Vandalism. I received the book Hidden From History: Reclaiming the Gay & Lesbian Past. It seems as though this was fate. Hidden in my family history is my Great Great Aunt Georgia Emery. I was lucky to have inherited a plethora of family history documents. As I put the pieces together it became apparent that my Aunt Gee was a lesbian. She was also a noted businesswoman and promoter of women in the work force. This altered book is in honor of my Great Great Aunt Georgia Emery, and her accomplishments. I would have never assembled this piece without the inspiration provided by the Reversing Vandalism project. Thank you for allowing me to participate, and in the process become more educated.
