SFPL Presents Literary Speed Dating Event
It’s back! Literary speed dating is returning for a second stint of matchmaking for book lovers. With this second installment, both LGBT and straight book lovers are asked to bring their passion for a certain book, be it hate, love or pure mystification, and to share it for 4-5 minutes with another potential sweetheart. Is the dating scene just not for you? Come and give the library a shot where your love of reading could lead to your true love! Literary Speed Dating will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2 for the LGBT community and Tuesday Aug. 9, for the straight community, at the San Francisco Main Library, Latino Hispanic Community Meeting Room B, 100 Larkin St., San Francisco. The events will both begin with mingle time and light refreshments at 5:45 p.m., speed dating at 6 p.m., and end at 7:45 p.m.
The events are targeted at the baby boomer generation although all ages are welcome to attend. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required. Gender-balanced groups will be created for each event and each event will be limited to 36 participants. Participants will meet potential dates and friends anonymously. Each person will be given a number which they will use as identification. When matches are made, names and contact information will be given out later, after the event.
The Library encourages participants to arrive early because of the nature of these events; "no-shows" or those who arrive late will forfeit their place on the registration list to those on the wait-lists who are present. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call (415) 557-4277 to sign up for speed dating.
