Reading Rocks, the 1st Annual Northern California Adult Learner and Tutor Conference, was held on Saturday, September 14th at the San Leandro Library. Over 200 adult learners and tutors attended this day-long event which featured workshops, a complimentary lunch, and a community fair. Learners attended workshops entitled “How to Use a Dictionary," "Preparing for Success at Work," "Tenant’s Rights," and "Banking and Money Skills." Tutor workshops included "Learning Differences," "ESL Learners and Cultural Differences," "Working with Spelling and Phonics," and "Equipped for the Future." The conference was sponsored by BALit (Bay Area Literacy Network) and California Literacy, Inc.
