Moving Forward by Alice Triplett

I am a recovering addict who’s never had a job at 37 years old. Since I’ve been out of prison I went back to Walden House to start my life over. This time I put it in my mind to try something different. The reason I wanted to try something different was my way was not working. I needed to try someone else’s way of living.

Since I’ve been out of prison, I found my first job that I love very much. I am very grateful to the Goodwill and their staff for giving me my first chance. Working for Goodwill, I have learned responsibility, how to be on time, how to be honest and how to deal with the public on a day to day basis.

I’m also grateful to Walden House and the 815 Walden House staff. They have been very good at helping me build up skills. When things get too bad William L. slows me down. I’m grateful to William because without him I would not have made it this far in my program.

I have two months left in Walden House and then I will be on my own. I’m a little afraid to be on my own but this time I have tools to live life on life’s terms and I know I don’t have to go backwards. I can keep going forward.
