From Steel to Wheels

2/23/13 - 4/25/2013

Potrero

Potrero General Floor Area

1616 20th Street

The San Francisco Public Library Potrero Branch and Farley's Coffee, in partnership with a guest curator, will host exhibitions dedicated to one of Potrero Hill's few remaining examples of industrial architecture: the Cor-o-van moving company's structures at 16th, 17th and Mississippi Streets in San Francisco's Potrero Hill. The metal and brick structures currently occupied by the Cor-o-van company once housed the largest steel-producing factory on the West Coast, and they are associated with the construction of  some of the most significant turn-of-the-century and early 20th century construction. Through text, historical photographs, and contemporary art, this exhibition will shed light on significant but under-examined aspects of Potrero Hill's industrial past while envisioning the possibilities of the its future.

Reception - February 23, 2013

Potrero Branch - 6:00-8:00 p.m.
