Keeping Up With Global Warming:

The Problem That Won't Go Away

A Series of 3 Illustrated Talks on the Science of the Sun, Earth, and Its Atmosphere

September 1: Making Predictions

Science is used primarily to understand nature.  Such understanding allows us to make predictions about natural phenomena that can be vitally important to inhabitants of Earth, including humans.  Climate, for example, lends itself well to prediction, compared to weather, which does not.

The last part of this illustrated series of talks focuses on the evidence for continued warming of the Earth and the basis of predictions on how hot it will get, and when.  Questions to be addressed include:

No previous knowledge of math or science is needed to understand the illustrated presentation.

Please note: Attending all 3 talks will provide the best background to understand this environmental problem, as each talk builds on the information from the previous one.  However, attending any one or two of them will give you some understanding of this increasingly worrisome problem for all inhabitants of this beautiful planet.

Instructor: Barbara-Ann G. Lewis, PhD
Ms. Lewis is Associate Professor Emeritus, Environmental Engineering, at Northwestern University and a former Environmental Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory.

When: Sun, 9/1, 12:15 - 2:30 p.m.
