Candlestick Park, the City’s baseball and football stadium for over 40 years, will be torn down in late 2014 or early 2015.

Candlestick Park holds many memories for locals, particularly on October 17, 1989, during Game 3 of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A’s, when the Loma Prieta earthquake struck the Bay Area. Despite widespread damage throughout the region, no one in the stadium was injured. The Beatles played their final concert at Candlestick on August 29, 1966, and so Paul McCartney will return to play a final farewell to the stadium before it disappears forever.

This exhibit bids goodbye to Candlestick, highlighting some of the memorable events held there over the years.
