The Main Library is fully accessible and offers:
- Automatic entrance doors
- Book holders
- Computer terminals at 32" high
- Full ramp & elevator access to all departments
- Public catalog with ZoomText Xtra on an adjustable height table (3rd floor)
- Varied height service desks
- Parking
Volunteers at the Main Library (with advance notice by contacting 557-4557) and staff are available to:
- Assist with photocopying
- Interact with Library staff
- Read aloud from Library materials
- Retrieve Library items
- Search for items in the electronic catalog
The branches of San Francisco Public Library are undergoing a ten-year project (2000-2010) to make them fully accessible:
- Until all bathrooms, aisles, and seating are made wheelchair accessible, the partial accessibility of the branches will be indicated by this symbol for partial or no accessibility
- If you are using a specific branch with the symbol for partial or no accessibility, please call for the potential access to its facility and services.
