A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows: Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2004
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level The meeting will be called to order. RICHMOND BRANCH LIBRARY NAMING - ACTION (This item is a continuation of the RICHMOND BRANCH LIBRARY NAMING hearing for possible additional public comment, Commission discussion and possible action. Public comment on this item was closed on December 4, 2003 except for testimony from persons who did not speak at the December 4, 2003 hearing. Consistent with the time limitations previously imposed on December 4, 2003, persons who did not offer public comment on this item on December 4, 2003 may testify for up to two minutes.) Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve the addition of the name of the late State Senator Milton Marks to the name of the Richmond Branch Library. Explanatory documents: Richmond Branch renaming memo - Report on October 25th Richmond District Community meeting - Board of Supervisors Resolution in support of renaming PUBLIC COMMENT (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - ACTION Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of November 6, 2003. Explanatory document: Minutes CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT - DICUSSION by City Librarian Susan Hildreth (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements) The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: a California Library Association (CLA) Conference report; information on the American Library Association (ALA) Mid-Winter Conference in San Diego; a report on the 12/21/03 emergency closure of the Library system; a 2003/04 circulation statistics report; Proposition 14 (State Library Bond Act) applications revisions; and Exhibits and programs. 03/04 and 04/05 LIBRARY BUDGET UPDATE - DISCUSSION Presentation on and discussion of the Library’s FY 2003/04 and 2004/05 Budgets MAIN LIBRARY (POE) REPORT - DISCUSSION Presentation and discussion of an update report on the Main Library Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) Report related Main Library projects. LIBRARY HISTORY PLAQUES - ACTION Presentation and discussion of and possible action to approve a series of plaques chronicling the history of the San Francisco Public Library from its beginnings until the present and honoring those who made significant contributions to be located in the Larkin Street entrance of the Main Library. Explanatory Document: [Wall of Library Heroes Memo--revised 12/4/03 ][Wall of Library Heroes Memo--final 1/6/04] FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT - DISCUSSION (This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.) LABOR UNION REPORT (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.) NEW BUSINESS (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)
