4. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT - DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)
The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: recruiting for Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Branches; California Library Association (CLA) Annual Conference in San Jose, Nov. 12-16, 2004; a gift to the Western Addition Branch Library; Prop. 14 (State Library Bond) update; and exhibitions and programs.
5. PROP. E HOURS - DISCUSSION
Presentation of and discussion concerning establishing service hours for the Main and Branch Libraries for the five-year period beginning January 1, 2005.

6. COMMENDATORY RESOLUTION - ACTION
Presentation of and discussion of and possible action to approve a resolution calling attention to and honoring the many significant contributions that Helen Chin, Principal of Gordon J. Lau School, has made to the betterment of San Francisco’s public libraries, particularly the Chinatown Library, and our entire community.

7. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT - DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)
8. LABOR UNION REPORT
(This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
9. NEW BUSINESS
(This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)
