Due to the ebb and flow of the Library’s needs, volunteer opportunities are ever-changing. Below is a list of ongoing opportunities. At the time you apply, you will receive a list of the current available opportunities at that time.
Adult Volunteer Opportunities
Special Event Help Needed!! - Walk with the Public Library's Bookmobile in the annual Carnivale event on Sunday May 26, 2013 from 8a-12:30p. Contact the Volunteer Program Coordinator for this and other volunteer opportunities!
- Children's Summer Food Program - Help set up, distribute and monitor children visiting the Free Food Program @ Ocean View Library. This position also has an administrative component to capture our participant numbers.
- Computer Lab Assistant @ the Main Library & Richmond Branch Library - Lead a basic/intermediate email class using materials the SFPL has put together.
- Knitting Class Assistant @ the Sunset Branch – The Sunset Branch is also looking for Knitting Class Assistant on the 2nd Saturdays of the month from 10:15a-12:15p.
- Library Programming Assistant - West Portal Branch is looking for someone to help direct and monitor strollers in their courtyard during story time and lap sits. Other duties assigned as needed.
- Mobility & Computer Aide Volunteer - The Library for Blind and Print Disabled of the Main Library is looking for someone to help their patrons utilize the internet and computer technology more efficiently. Volunteer would be working one-on-one with patrons.

- SF City Guides - City Guides volunteers lead free walking tours that focus on the architecture, history, legends, and lore of San Francisco. Please visit http://sfcityguides.org/becomeguide/apinfo.html for more information.
- Teen Computer Corps - Excelsior Branch and the Richmond Branch Teen Services is looking for an adult volunteer to help administer the Teen Computer Corps program.
Teen Computer Corps is a program in which teen volunteers help adults one-on-one learn computer skills. The program is looking for an adult volunteer to help monitor the program. This would involve helping teens answer questions, monitor adult/youth interaction, etc.
