Due to the ebb and flow of the Library’s needs, volunteer opportunities are ever-changing. Below is a list of ongoing opportunities. At the time you apply, you will receive a list of the current available opportunities at that time.

Adults Code Program Lead - Help start a program that focuses on adults learning to code. Beginner-focused.

Computer Lab Assistant (Portola) – Assist with a basic computer class at Portola Branch Library. Potentially bi-lingual speakers.

Conversational English Group Leader – Conversational language group leader. Must have an interest in helping others learn and some experience in a classroom-type setting. This opportunity is at the Portola Branch Library.

Conversational Spanish Group Leader – Our Conversational Spanish class is looking for a group leader. Leaders must be fluent in Spanish and English.

Event Help @ Marina Branch - Help out at Marina's Letter Scavenger Hunt. Please note: To volunteer for this opportunity, please contact Karla Smoak @ Marina directly: 415 355-2823

Event Help - Urban Farm Day @ Richmond Branch Library: Assist with set-up and breakdown of Urban Farm Day. Directional help by tabling in front of the library and explain the event to patrons; other help as needed.

Friends of the San Francisco Public Library - Help out at Friends of the Library book sales, step sales and other events. Contact 415.626.7512 ext. 120 for more information.

Knitting Class Assistant @ the Sunset Branch – The Sunset Branch is looking for Knitting Class Assistant on the 2nd Saturdays of the month from 10:15a-12:15p.

Project Read – Make a difference by helping someone learn to read. Visit Project Read’s page for more information.

SF City Guides - City Guides volunteers lead free walking tours that focus on the architecture, history, legends, and lore of San Francisco. Please visit sfcityguides.org/becomeguide/apinfo.html for more information.

Technology Assistant @ the Richmond or Sunset Branches - The Library now offers a full range of print, copy, scan and fax services. Our patrons tend to need help with these machines. Training provided. This position is recommended for individuals that enjoy helping people and that may need to study on the job. Position involves sitting and waiting for people to approach you as needed. Great for students that need to study on the job!
