Due to the ebb and flow of the Library’s needs, volunteer opportunities are ever-changing. Below is a list of ongoing opportunities. At the time you apply, you will receive a list of the current available opportunities at that time.

Current Library Opportunities

Adults Code Program Lead - Help start a program that focuses on adults learning to code. Beginner-focused.

Computer Lab Assistant (Excelsior) - Knowledge of basic/intermediate internet/computer activities. Tuesdays August 5th & 19th, September 2nd & 16th from 7p-8:30p.

Computer Lab Assistant (Main Library) - Knowledge of basic/intermediate internet/computer activities. This is a drop-in based class, so volunteers would field a variety of questions.

Computer Lab Assistant (Portola) – Assist with a basic computer class at Portola Branch Library. Potentially bi-lingual speakers.

Event Help/ Senior Tech Fair - The Senior Tech Fair, at the Main Library, will be an event geared towards 50+ tech users and those that want to learn more about technology. There are a myriad of roles that we need volunteers for, including directional assistance, helping give out materials as well as assisting with basic computer usage.

Friends of the San Francisco Public Library - Help out at Friends of the Library book sales, step sales and other events. Contact 415.626.7512 ext. 120 for more information.

Knitting Class Assistant @ the Sunset Branch – The Sunset Branch is looking for Knitting Class Assistant on the 2nd Saturdays of the month from 10:15a-12:15p.

Online Privacy Teacher @ the Main Library - This position is for a tech-savvy person to lead a basic, hand-on class that will teach patrons how to protect their privacy on the internet with various tools.
