Sex for One, the original vandalized work, was a book that dealt with the art of physical
self-loving, or masturbation. This book was particularly poignant for me, since I came
of age in the 1950s, and it was a topic never discussed, we only fantasized about it with
our peers. The altered book looks at this taboo subject-the desire of young men and
women to learn about sex and one’s sexual organs. But [it] expresses how society
unfortunately still says that one hasn’t the right to know. This is what the vandal of this
book has made very clear.
