My travel plans always begin with a trip to my local library. This one began with a book from the San Francisco Public Library titled Inn Places. As a fiber artist, travel has influenced my work in both subject matter and technique. For Inn Places Reversed I have superimposed photos of my travels over the pages of this gay and lesbian travel guide. The background for my hand-dyed fabric creates the map my free motion stitches follow, stitches crossing paths and marking the route. Hopefully the exhibition, Reversing Vandalism, will generate the funds necessary to replace the books that have been vandalized and make available to the community sources for traveling the world and beyond.
