What inspired the creation of this piece? Having recently become an altered book artist,
I knew I wanted to participate as soon as I read about this project on the Yahoo Group
board. This was the first project I took on as such, because I was looking to share this new
affiliation. Second, I thought the malicious destruction of these [books about]
homosexuality was tantamount to a hate crime. Obviously, ignorance begat this violence
and it saddened me greatly as I explain in my collage page inside the front cover.
