We Will Still Come Out
Being an advocate for “coming out,” I was pleasantly surprised when the book I received
to create an art piece from the vandalized books from the San Francisco Public Library
was Coming Out, by Orland Outland. While the bigots can come into our libraries and
attempt to destroy our writings, they will never stop us from coming out. We have opened
the closet doors and will not return to them. The figure in my work represents every Gay,
Lesbian, Bi-sexual, or Transgender person who has come out of his or her closet. Here I
am take me as I am.
