San Francisco Public Library Presents a Free Book Appraisal Clinic

What's That Old Book Worth?

San Francisco - Is your apartment overflowing with books? Have you inherited a rare book or even an entire library? Found some interesting books at a yard sale? Wonder what that old map is worth? Whether it's your great grandparents' family Bible or a 17th century edition of Shakespeare's collected plays, bring it to the appraisal clinic at the San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street, Civic Center, on Saturday, December 14, 2002. Appraisers from PBA Galleries will be on hand to evaluate your old books and maps. The clinic will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 pm in the Skylight Gallery on the 6th Floor of the Main Library.

PBA (formerly Pacific Book Auction) Galleries, headquartered in San Francisco, is the only west-coast auction house specializing in books, manuscripts, autographs, maps and photographs. So, if you're thinking of buying or selling rare books, wondering about the value of an undiscovered treasure, or if you are a connoisseur with a personal library that took years to build, the expert staff from PBA Galleries will be available to answer questions about appraisals and valuations.

The event is sponsored by the Marjorie G. and Carl W. Stern Book Arts and Special Collections Center of the San Francisco Public Library.

All programs and exhibitions at the Library are free of charge and open to the public.
