Excelsior Branch Library Celebrates Grand Reopening
What:
The Excelsior Branch Library reopens to the public following a year of closure for seismic retrofit and other improvements. A grand community celebration begins with a sidewalk parade, followed by a welcome to the new branch, gifts and entertainment, refreshments and more.

The Excelsior Branch is the first library renovation through the Branch Library Improvement Program, approved by voters in 2000. The program will upgrade nineteen branch libraries and construct five new buildings. A separate fundraising campaign by
Friends of the San Francisco Public Library provided new furniture and equipment for the Excelsior Library. The branch has been remodeled, seismically upgraded, and made accessible to all. The newly renovated branch has special green features, including solar panels, natural ventilation, and added insulation throughout the building.
