Why:
Join us as we celebrate the building of the new Ingleside Branch Library.

The construction of the Ingleside Branch is part of the Branch Library Improvement Program, which called for replacing branches currently housed in leased storefronts with City-owned buildings. The program is funded by a $106 million bond measure approved by voters in 2000. The new Ingleside library project budget is $6.9 million with $3.7 million coming from the California Reading and Literacy Improvement and Public Library Construction and Renovation Bond Act of 2000, administered through the California State Library.

A separate fundraising campaign by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library will provide new furniture and equipment for the new branch. The new branch will be housed in a modern building with a new program room and defined children's and teen areas. The 6,100-square-foot facility will be able to accommodate a growing collection of books, DVDs and books on tape. It will also have more public computers, free WiFi access to the Internet and provide a variety of seating choices. Located on a prominent corner, the new branch will be an anchor for the revitalization of Ocean Avenue.
