Invitation to Cover Mission Bay Branch
Grand Opening Saturday, July 8 New Branch Library the First to Open in San Francisco in 40 Years The Mission Bay Branch Library becomes the 27th branch of the San Francisco Public Library. The first new branch in San Francisco in 40 years, this 7,500-square-foot library will be a community gathering place for the burgeoning new Mission Bay neighborhood.

Why:
The library is the first public community gathering place in Mission Bay. The Mission Bay Branch’s collections and services are tailored to the interests and needs of the community. The library’s collection of approximately 34,000 books, CDs, DVDs and other materials highlights local interests such as baseball, maritime history and boating. A children’s area, furnished with colorful furniture and stocked with a diverse collection of new books, will be used for storytimes and special programs and cater to the growing number of families moving into the neighborhood.
