Meet the Architects for Parkside Branch Library

The architects for the Parkside Branch Library, Thomas Hacker Architects of Portland, Oregon, will be meeting with the community to discuss preliminary conceptual designs. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting to meet the architects and to comment on potential design options.

WHAT:
Community meeting about the design and renovations of the Parkside Branch Library.


WHEN:
Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m.


WHERE:
Parkside Branch Library - 1200 Taraval Street (at 22nd)


WHO:
Principal architects, Thomas Hacker Architects; Supervisor Fiona Ma; City Librarian Susan Hildreth and other Library officials


WHY:
Parkside Branch was built in 1951. The upcoming renovations will increase public safety through seismic strengthening and hazardous materials abatement, increase accessibility and improve and modernize library services by reconfiguring interior spaces, adapting for new technologies.





Background: San Francisco voters approved the Branch Library Improvement Bond in November 2000. The program includes the renovation of nineteen branch libraries and the construction of five new libraries. Further information on the branch improvement program is posted on the Library's website.

All programs and exhibitions at the Library are free of charge and open to the public.
