And don’t forget to stop by the Stegner Environmental Center on the Fifth Floor of San Francisco’s Main Library for an even deeper look at today’s environmental issues. Named for the late Wallace Stegner—whose writings
display a deep awareness of nature and a commitment to bringing human activities into harmony with the natural environment—the Center’s mission is to inspire understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness and mutual dependence
of life on earth through an outstanding collection of environmental literature and innovative public programs.
The collection includes more than 1,400 books and periodicals on environmental topics ranging from biographies, global warming,
conservation strategies and environmental justice, to biodiversity, globalization and political activism. Most of the collection is available for users to check out and take home.
