WHAT IS A TEACHER LIBRARY CARD?
The Teacher Card allows teachers to borrow library materials for longer, request more reserves and request multiple copies of the same item. Teacher cards are for material to support curriculum and classroom use only. Teachers may use their adult card for library materials checked out for personal use. Subject matter limits may be imposed at the discretion of the librarian based on the information needs of other library users.

WHO CAN GET A TEACHER CARD?
A “teacher” is anyone currently employed as a teacher, educator, administrator, librarian, childcare provider or afterschool program provider at a school, childcare center or afterschool program. The teacher must live or work in San Francisco.
HOW TO GET A TEACHER CARD?
- Apply in person at any SFPL location.
- Show valid photo ID with current residence address and provide a work address.
- Show proof of current teacher status such as ID, pay stub, or original homeschool affidavit.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHARGES ON A TEACHER CARD?
Teachers are responsible for paying for or replacing lost or damaged items. Teacher card privileges will be suspended if charges are more than $50. SFPL is fine free and there are no overdue fines.
