To request a book, DVD, CD, etc. online:

  1. Search for the desired item in the catalog.
  2. From a list of search results, click on the title to display the full record.
  3. Click on the Request button near the top of the screen to request the title displayed. See screenshot below for location of button.

  4. Follow the instructions on the following screen by entering your barcode number, PIN, and pickup location and clicking the OK button.
  5. Next, you will see a screen with the title of the item you
requested and your pickup location to which the first available
copy will be delivered. If the item you requested has more than one volume, you will see a list from which you may select the volume number and location. Click on the button next to the volume you wish to select and click on the Request Selected Item button at the end of the list.

Each library user may place up to 15 requests at a time on library materials; the computer system won't let you place more than that.

When the item you requested is available, you will receive a notice via e-mail or U.S. mail telling you where to pick up your request. At that time, you may want to call the branch where the item is being held to make sure it is ready for pickup.

What do the different status categories mean in my requests (holds) list?

  • 10 of 24 holds (for example) means you are number 10 out of 24 people waiting for that particular title.
  • Check shelf means your hold has not yet been pulled for you, and should be available and ready to pick up soon.
  • In transit means your hold has been pulled and is on its way to the location you selected for pick-up.
  • Ready. Must Pick up by, followed by a date, means your hold is waiting for you to pick up at the location you have selected, and must be picked up by the date shown.
