Asian American History Month Essay Contest
sponsored by Chinatown Branch Library

To celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May 2007, the Chinatown Library invites teenagers (age 12 – 18) to participate in an essay contest. The topic was “Celebrations and Traditions from My Culture”.

Mission High Spanish Reading Club Story Contest
Mission Branch Library

Mission Branch librarian Martha Neves’ Spanish language reading club at Mission High School is using challenging Latin-American literature to promote interest in reading among Spanish speaking youth. In each class session Neves read aloud challenging short stories by some of the best known writers from all over Latin America. At the end of each class series, students wrote stories of their own.
