Muni’s L-Taraval line began service to the Sunset District in April 1919, and was the first streetcar line to connect residents of the burgeoning Parkside neighborhood along Taraval between 19th and 33rd Avenues to Downtown San Francisco. Western Neighborhoods Project (WNP), founded in 1999, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that preserves, interprets, and shares the diverse history and culture of San Francisco’s west side.
