SUMMARY:Remarkable WWII Rosie
DESCRIPTION:
Artist Carol Witten exhibits 60 Digital Prints (diptychs) from her historical essay Remarkable WWII Rosie. This exhibition beautifully reveals Witten’s style of combining traditional portraiture with a narrative. Through their stories we hear the hammers and watch the soot fall as Rosie reveals the danger, sexism, and racism she endured and overcame to become the most beloved women in America. Witten interviewed and photographed women now 90 years old, many 100 years old and over, who built with scant training the planes, ships, and ammunition that enabled America to win World War II.

Opening event: Remarkable WWII Rosie, discussion with photographer Carol Witten. Main Library, November 23, Jewett Gallery, 3:00 p.m.
