Alvin Orloff, Bay Area native, 2020 Lambda Literary award finalist for best Gay Memoir is our On the Same Page selected author for his book Disasterama!: Adventures in the Queer Underground 1977-1997 (Three Rooms Press). Disasterama! is a fun, raunchy, hilarious and painful coming of age memoir. One cannot speak of gay counterculture in the 80s and not be ingrained in AIDS crisis and the loss of life which ensued. Alvin does this with honest emotion and humor. Opening with teenage Orloff in search of acceptance, love, but mostly sex—he finds, Michael Joseph Collins, who becomes his infatuation, creative partner, bandmate in The Popstitutes, love and friend.
