SUMMARY:Panel: The Media, Art and the Border
DESCRIPTION:
David Bacon talks with artists and photographers about the way the border is represented in media and the arts. He talks with Juan Gonzales, founder of El Tecolote and director of the journalism program at City College of San Francisco; Kim Komenich, a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer and photojournalism teacher at San Francisco State University; and Juan Fuentes, celebrated artist and cultural activist. Is the border just a wall or a line in the sand? Do the images and stories we see and hear give us a true idea of who lives in this enormous region and their social movement history? A gallery talk follows the program.
