DESCRIPTION:<p>Author and music historian&nbsp;<a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=Unterberger%2C%20Richie&searchType=author">Richie&nbsp;Unterberger</a>&nbsp;presents a program celebrating the music of&nbsp;James&nbsp;Brown, one of the all-time great soul singers and charismatic live&nbsp;performers. The event will focus on his prime from the mid-1960s to the&nbsp;early 1970s, including performances of classics like &ldquo;Out of Sight,&rdquo;&nbsp;&ldquo;Papa&rsquo;s Got a Brand New Bag,&rdquo; &ldquo;I Feel Good,&rdquo; &ldquo;Cold Sweat,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Say It&nbsp;Loud, I&rsquo;m Black and I&rsquo;m Proud.&rdquo;</p>

<p><a href="http://www.richieunterberger.com/">Richie Unterberger </a>is the author of numerous rock history books, including volumes on the Beatles, the Who, the Velvet Underground, Bob Marley and 1960s folk-rock. He teaches courses on rock and soul music history at several Bay Area colleges. His newest book, <a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C5107812">San Francisco: Portrait of a City</a>, was published this year by Taschen.</p>
