SUMMARY:Grotto Nights at the Library: A Conversation with Writers
DESCRIPTION:<p>Grotto Nights is a new monthly series at the Library featuring The Writers Grotto members&nbsp;who will showcase and discuss their writing around a theme of their choice. &nbsp;This month features&nbsp;Lee Kravetz author of<em>&nbsp;</em><em><a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C5138139">The Last Confessions of Sylvia P</a>.</em>&nbsp;and Jenny Bitner author of <em><a href="https://sfpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S93C4791566">Here Is A Game We Could Play</a> </em>in<em> </em>conversation&nbsp;about mental health in fiction.&nbsp;The authors will discuss their work and&nbsp;invite the audience to participate in an activity related to the theme.</p>

<p>The Writers Grotto is a creative community of writers and artists based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Attendees are&nbsp;encouraged to learn more about the <a href="https://www.writersgrotto.org/">Grotto writing community</a> by taking classes, attending Grotto events and participating in Rooted and Written.</p>

<p>Grotto Nights will take place the first Tuesday of the month, January through March 2023.</p>

<p><strong>Jenny </strong><strong>Bitner&rsquo;</strong>s fiction and poetry has been published in&nbsp;<em>Mississippi Review</em>, <em>The Fabulist</em>, <em>The Sun</em>, <em>Fence</em>, <em>Corium</em>, <em>Fourteen Hills</em>, <em>Mid-American Review</em> and&nbsp;<em>PANK</em>. Pine Press published a chapbook of her poetry entitled&nbsp;<em>Mother</em>. Her story &ldquo;The Pamphleteer&rdquo; was published in&nbsp;<em>Best American Nonrequired Reading</em>. She is also a certified hypnotherapist. Her novel&nbsp;<em>Here Is A Game We Could Play</em>&nbsp;was published in 2021 from Acre Books. She teaches writing and hypnosis at the Writers Grotto.</p>

<p><strong>Lee Kravetz</strong> is the author of the novel&nbsp;<em>The Last Confessions of Sylvia P.</em>, as well as acclaimed nonfiction,<em> Strange Contagion</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>SuperSurvivors</em>. He has written for print and television, including&nbsp;<em>The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Atlantic, Psychology Today, The Daily Beast, The San Francisco Chronicle</em>, and PBS. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.</p>
