Artist Maia Scott's collection of mixed media and interactive works, SEE/SAW, hosted by SFPL's Library for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Main Library, in a delightful twist, actually puts the focus on seeing.  Visually impaired since birth, Maia grew up knowing she sees differently.  Over the years, she learned that, in fact, everyone sees differently regardless of visual acuity.  Rather, interests, culture, fears, loves and so many other lenses affect what we notice as we journey through life.  Maia invites you to experience her creative vision and maybe come away seeing things through fresh eyes.  Through participatory opportunities related to her art, Maia looks forward to learning from your insight and building your wisdom into a collection of interdisciplinary performance pieces.

Through the month of March, Maia Scott collected inspiration from viewers who shared their wisdom experiences from her interactive and contemplative art works in the LBPD.  The result is a collection of semi-improvisational performance pieces including play-list poetry, paw de deux with a guide dog, montage of crowd-sourced self portraits, and others.  Stay around for a Q&A with the artist
