A History of Latino Comics: "El Movimiento"

Jaime Crespo of Tortilla will take us on a personal journey of his first discoveries of Latino themes in comics and how they affected him and his later work.  From Car Magazines (Low Rider), to political tracts(Chicano Self-Publishing), the roots of Latino comics are explored in a personal way.

Discussion will be preceded by a screening of Latino Americans: 500 Years of History "Episode IV:  The New Latinos".

Latino Americans: 500 Years of History, a public programming initiative produced by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA), is part of an NEH initiative, The Common Good: The Humanities in the Public Square.

*Funded by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
