Body by Derby: LGBT Athletes

Photographs by Cory Layman
Event detail

Cory Layman is an amateur photographer who found his home in covering women’s flat-track roller derby.  Body by Derby is a photo series designed to show all of the different shapes and forms a derby athlete can take and that perfection is not required to be a strong, capable skater. These photographs of LGBT Athletes were pulled from the larger project, and reflect the inclusiveness of roller derby as a sport.

In addition to sports photography, roller derby provides numerous opportunities for different personal projects covering both the people and the culture surrounding the sport. Mr. Layman lives in southwestern Indiana with his wife and 4 year-old son and works in engineering for a durable goods manufacturer.
