Portraits of Gay Elders
Event detail

On view in the James C. Hormel Gay & Lesbian Center is a series of 11 portraits that celebrate the lives of older gay men. Created by local arts Ghee Phua, the series was inspired by an article Mr. Phua read which stated that a high number of gay seniors experience feelings of depression and loneliness, feeling invisible in a community more focused on youth.

Most of the men in the series are longtime HIV/AIDS survivors and along with sitting for the portrait, they offer their views on their lives and what it means to be getting older.
