Freedom 2017

Event detail

The Laguna Honda Hospital Computer Club presents 14 works of digital art on paper which were brought into the digital art exhibit as part of a "Paint" class done in conjunction with Community Living Campaign.

The theme of "Freedom" is an important one to the eight-year-old Laguna Honda Computer Club, which is comprised of residents of the hospital and members of the Community Living Campaign, all people with disabilities. Because the Club initially formed around its members' common issues concerning access to technology and their abilities to work and communicate, the Club's artists came up with "freedom" as a theme to describe what power and benefit technology gives them.

The exhibition was designed both to celebrate this learning as well as to bring greater visibility and exposure to the Computer Club inside the hospital and as part of the San Francisco digital community.

Digital Inclusion Week (DIW) is a citywide initiative comprised of classes, panel discussions, events and keynote speakers that promote online access and technology skill-building to reduce digital disparities in our communities.
