Why are so many people dreaming of a trip–or even a move–to Costa Rica? Sure, it’s gorgeous, with more than its fair share of biological diversity. But the country's a lot more than beaches, rainforests, toucans and monkeys. It's also one of the most economically and politically stable nations in the region. Costa Rica abolished its army in 1948 and outlawed capital punishment half a century earlier. It has near-universal health care and has set aside more than 25% of its land in parks and reserves.

Erin Van Rheenen, author of Living Abroad in Costa Rica, introduces you to the “Switzerland of Central America,” discussing her own experiences, showing slides, giving travel advice and touching on expat topics such as immigration, buying property, and medical care. Although the focus of this talk will be Costa Rica, you’ll also learn what questions to ask about any place that’s on your relocation short list. There will be a Q & A session at the end of the talk, so bring your questions!
